RIP, Drake - a retired police dog, shot while defending his own home.

I am heartbroken to tell you all that Drake's battle has ended. Our brave boy had to be euthanized this evening due to testing at the University of Florida indicating non repairable damage to arteries due to bullet wounds. Please say a prayer for this gallant guy and also for Trooper Bob Boody of the Florida Highway Patrol and his family for their loss. Thank you as well to Dr. Simmons who went totally above and beyond for our cause and for Drake.

One more thing I would like to say... I believe that we as concerned community members need to communicate our feelings to the State's Attorney's office in no uncertain terms concerning the processing and punishment of the individuals responsible for this. They are juveniles, but they need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We DO NOT want threats to the suspects but strongly worded language will be appropriate. Call, email, or write letters using the following contact information.

Please share this call for action. Drake's death will not go unpunished. We will never forget him. RIP. ~ Cheryl
