CA SB 250 URGENT

California Senate Bill 250 failed its first floor vote yesterday on a vote of 16-15, with 21 votes needed for passage. A second vote for "Reconsideration" was taken and passed 35-0. This simply allows the author to bring the bill back for another vote on the following legislative day. Senate rules require that the bill be voted on again on Tuesday or 30 senators must vote to allow the author to wait another day. It is vital that we continue to respectfully communicate our opposition to this legislation. All of the Senate Republicans voted "No" and eight Democrats abstained. The Senators voting in favor of the bill were: Alquist, Calderon, Cedillo, Corbett, DeSaulnier, Florez, Hancock, Kehoe, Leno, Liu, Lowenthal, Oropeza, Padilla, Romero, Steinberg and Wiggins. In the California State Senate members must be present on the floor to vote and respond with a verbal "Aye" or "No." It is possible that some of the members who abstained either were not present on the floor or could still be convinced to change their vote. Therefore, we are asking fanciers, responsible breeders, and concerned dog owners to concentrate their efforts on those members who did not vote yesterday. Please contact the members below and encourage them to either continue to abstain or vote "No" on SB 250 if it is brought up for another vote. CA: SB 250 Down To The Wire!

SB 250, the mandatory spay and neuter bill, passed out of the Appropriations Committee yesterday and is on its way to the full California State Senate for a vote this week. SB 250 will cost cities and counties millions and make criminals out of responsible pet owners. We must say No on SB 250. We need your help today! Senate Pro Tem Leader Darrell Steinberg told us his office received only 94 phone calls for No on SB 250. Call Senator Steinberg today and let them know you say “NO on SB 250”. Please call Senator Steinberg NOW. Make a contribution to PetPAC, and call your State Senator. Tell them we can’t afford and don’t deserve SB 250, and ask them to vote NO on SB 250.

ABC Atlanta's Exposé On HSUS

UPDATE 5/21/2009: The link to the video has been...removed. Very interesting. However here is a link to the transcript of this video instead. We're not going to let the truth be buried! Click here to watch the video exposing HSUS' deceit and misuse of donations. Each year, HSUS raises hundreds of million dollars from the public, misleading it into believing the money is going to the local shelters. In 2007, HSUS raised over $120 million, of which $112 million was spent on political lobbying and huge staff salaries. After Hurricane Katrina, HSUS' Wayne Pacelle raised $34 million, promising to re-unite owners with their dogs. In fact, only $7 million went to that effort. HSUS raises and spends millions of dollars every year on the fight to take away our rights as pet owners. Make a contribution to PetPac, so it can continue the daily battle. PetPAC has proven that in every instance where we have had an opportunity to expose the truth, we have stopped PETA and HSUS cold.

California Legislative: NO on SB 250

We lost the first round. Last Wednesday, SB 250 passed in the Senate Local Government Committee by a vote of 3 to 1. The supporters of this bill, including PeTA, will pour money in to take away our rights as pet owners. We beat them last year by killing AB 1634, and with your help we can do it again. Please contribute to PetPAC today so that it will have the tools to continue to fight for our rights.
